The car is one of the most dominant products in the public space, and also the only one that requires optional space in the form of parking. In our design, the bench is seen as a place rather than just a seat. Camouflaged as a car, it occupies the corresponding open space.
The Bench “Who’s gonna drive you home tonight?” was created in response to an invitation by the gallery Spazio Opos, Milan, and was shown for the first time in 2002 at the International Furniture Fair Milan. Later it formed part of the show “Milan in a Van 2002” at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, curated by Gareth Williams.
