The site of the project is the Place de la Riponne, in front of the Musée des Beaux Arts in the centre of the city of Lausanne. The place is a political and social focal point. The project brings a rural phenomenon into the city. A flower field is created which is reminiscent of rural areas in Switzerland and Germany. A rectangular wooden frame, painted black and with a circumferential tread, defines the dimension and place of the intervention. The flower field crosses a public street. The gesture questions political and social conventions of the city. The inhabitants and visitors of Lausanne have an opportunity to pick flowers for their own delight or for their friends. The flower field is a symbol of the trust that the city has in its citizens.
