The object opens up a hybrid space between natural and cultural artefact. The ladder is made from larch wood that was found on walks in Ticino (south of Switzerland). Since the wood had been lying around for a long time, pests had feasted on the wood under the bark. This is evident from a trace on the branches that looks like writing from a distant time. It seems like one is walking through a forest of symbols. Trace and surface have been treated with an indigo blue water stain and afterwards partially sanded away again. The special colouring is reminiscent of washed-out, used objects.
